why does my dog keeps on scratching his body ????

In todays blog we will discuss the most common problem every pet parent go through" ITCHY SKIN" 

There are many reasons for itchy skin/condition,lets go through them one by one

WORM INFESTATION

   When your pet is not dewormed  regularly this problem occurs. Every 3 months or every 6 months your pet should be dewormed properly according to his/her body weight.

DIET

 Proper diet containing omega3 and omega 6 ,essential fatty acids all contribute to your pets overall skin coat. deficiency in these essential fatty acids causes dryness, itchiness on your pets body. Proper dog food containing good quality essential fatty acids, omega3& 6 should be included. Supplements can also be given for eg. MY BEAU SKIN AND COAT, STAR COAT BY SKY EC, FURGLOW BY HIMALAYA,AND SO ON.

TICKS& FLEAS
  Regular checkup for ticks and fleas is very important. tick bite and flea bite causes rashes and spots on skin. Keep grooming your pet regularly and take necessary precaution during tick and flea season, when taking him out for a walk, or when coming in contact with other dogs. Proper tick bathe and spray, spot on, tick powder, tick collar should be used time to time.

ALLERGIES
Occurs mostly when your pet comes in contact or inhale pollen, house dust or ingest a substance to which they are allergic .Anti-itch shampoo, steroids, anti-histamines can help your pet with this condition.

METABOLLIC DISORDER
  Dogs suffering from diabetes mellites, thyroid can develop a long term itchy skin condition ( dermatitis). Follow your vets advice about your pets diet and have a blood checkup done at least twice a year.

FUNGAL/YEAST/SECONDARY BACTERIAL INFECTION
 when proper hygiene is not maintained , dogs develop serious fungal/yeast /secondary bacterial infection. your vet will treat your pet with antifungal therapy or anti bacterial therapy depending on the diagnosis .

In any case, do not try anything without your veterinarians advice. please take your pet to your nearest vet and get your pet treated at once.
